The Songwriters Expo takes place at the Cadillac Lounge, 1296 Queen Street West, Toronto, (416) 536-7717. The show takes place from 4-7 p.m. There is never a cover for this event, instead we have a PWYC policy. Any amount given results in the automatic entry into the showtime raffle. One lucky winner takes home CD's of all or most of the shows performers; a sweet sounding deal!
t@b
Thugs at Bay, or t@b for short, could be called a folk music duet. They play original, acoustic music with guitar, fiddle and two voices. But that's the tip of the iceberg. As a pair, Ariana Nasr and Andy Flinn project the exuberant energy of a Caribbean septet. This couple is completely and utterly unfaithful to any particular style of music. They shamelessly borrow inspiration from anywhere. There's nothing like them.
CAT RATUSNY
Cat Ratusny is a dynamic Toronto-based singer and songwriter who regularly plays the city. Her latest CD, “The Human Condition”, was released in a sold-out event this past year in Toronto. As a songwriter, her “engaging storytelling and 'listen to them again' lyrics with a bit of the go-anywhere voice of Kate Bush” creates a meaningful and poignant performance.
BILL LASOVICH
Bill Lasovich (keyboards, vocals) and Steve Keeping (drums) will be performing songs from Bill's new CD “All The Very Best of My Lovin' ”, a bittersweet reflection on youth, beauty and middle age, as well as a song or two from his previous effort “Parkdale Sunset” which is mostly just bitter. Bill's sardonic lyrics are at home in settings from traditional country to pop to show tunes; he'll be playing the Toronto Jazz Festival this year.
